I loved the colour combination in Colour Throwdown;s #457 and had intended to make a very subtly coloured card, full of delicate detail. So much for that idea - the colours got stronger the more I played around. I did, however, work hard to keep the clouds light, in keeping with As you See It's sketch #157 - I liked the idea of them gently supporting the rest of the image, rather than being an overwhelming part of it. To that end, I used vellum and the outline stamp in Whisper White, rather than a bolder die cut white.
Here's the card:
Made using: Stampin' Up paper (Daffodil Delight, Sweet Sugarplum, Melon Mambo, Smoky Slate, Basic Grey), ink (Basic Black, Whisper White, Smoky Slate), vellum (Botanical Gardens), Stamp sets (Lift Me Up), dies (Up and Away).
Other Products: francheville rhinestones, My Favourite Things Dies (a freebie) for the sentiment
Very clever! I love the way you've used vellum and soft outlines - it keeps the balloon in perspective, rather than being lost in a busy background and it really lets the sentiment shine. Thank you for joining us again at As You See It challenge.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the vellum clouds in the background. Thanks for joining us for this week's Color Throwdown!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great balloon die! I love how you incorporated all the colors into it! Thanks so much for sharing with us at the Color Throwdown this week!
ReplyDeleteI love your balloon and those pretty clouds...very soft and subtle! So glad you played with our sketch this week!
ReplyDeleteThe sketch and those lovely, subtle clouds work so well together! And they allow that vibrant balloon to be the star of the show! Which it should be and I think those subtle colours couldn't have accomplished that, so you made the right choices! Thanks for coming back to play at As You See It Challenge again!
ReplyDeleteGreat card. The colours and the layout make me happy.
